Gianna Alessi finds herself amidst darkness and uncertainty on her latest single, 'From Within'
With "honeyed vocals and soulful melodies", New York native Gianna Alessi is carving out a unique space for herself in today’s music industry. Creating R&B-laden pop with electronic influence, she fuses retro elements with modern production.
Hailing from a long line of musicians, the journey began when the songwriter's grandmother — a former soprano at the Metropolitan Opera — gave nine-year-old Gianna her first-ever voice lesson. While attending Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, she took a songwriting course that changed everything. From then on, she began storytelling through music and honing her unique sound.
Immersing herself in NYC's music scene, she has gained experience and exposure as a songwriter, recording artist and bandleader. She has played shows at Bowery Electric, Arlene's Grocery, Hudson Music Fest, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End and Groove in Manhattan's West Village where her and her band enjoyed a residency.
“From Within” is the latest offering from Gianna Alessi. Trading her bustling NYC life for the suburbs of her hometown, the singer-songwriter meditates on what it takes to find herself amidst darkness and uncertainty. Written during a shadowy stretch of quarantine, Alessi reached deep inside to take back her spirit, believing music is more powerful now than ever.
