Supertaste on recording their forthcoming EP "Super Classic" in the mountains of Tennessee
Brooklyn-based indie pop duo Supertaste share “Super Classic.” The release marks their first offering of 2021 and also stands as the first single from the group’s forthcoming Super Classic EP lated for release later in 2021 on Casablanca Sunset Records.
“Super Classic” premiered April 6th via Dancing Astronaut and is the first of many notable releases to come from the rising indie-disco act. The cross-genre single is applicable to fans of both dance music and alternative pop. Think indie dance production meets the warm melodies of indie pop. Sonically, “Super Classic” features a funky disco bassline paired with buoyant pop vocals, smooth synths, groovy guitar chords, and a rich tapestry of club-inspired rhythms. It’s an uplifting song about feeling confident, in love, and good about yourself.
As a group, Supertaste is composed of talented singer-songwriter Hundreds Thousands and dance production wizard Slug Father, whose music was recently supported by Disclosure on BBC Radio1 along with hitting #1 on the Hype Machine popular charts multiple times last year. Supertaste’s mission is to bring you that warm feeling of walking to your favorite bodega after a night of dancing in the city. The duo debuted their first release in the Summer of 2020, the Breakup DiscoEP. The 4-song release received support from a variety of outlets online including Spotify’s editorial playlist, “Soda,” along with artists like Washed Out (dj mix + artist playlist), The Knocks (artist playlist), Goldroom (artist playlist), and more.
Later in the year, the group decided to collect their belongings in Brooklyn and head to a cabin in the woods to make an indie pop record. Supertaste packed up the studio and road tripped to Bristol, Tennessee, to produce their forthcoming Super Classic EP. They cleared out the cabin’s living room furniture and recreated Supertaste studios in the mountains, with a view out over South Holston Lake and the Cherokee National Forest. The epic scenery served as a source of inspiration fueling both creativity and productivity. The result, the Super Classic EP, is a unique cross-genre release that’s likely to spark as buzz across the music landscape. Prepare for a collection of up-tempo radio friendly songs that will retain its relevancy well beyond 2021.
